Memoria Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
In short
Everything you create in Memoria — your recall tables, your associations, your images, your goals and your preferences — stays on your device. Memoria has no user account and no remote database: we cannot read your tables.
The few technical pieces of data that do leave the device are used only to run the app, to understand how it is used, to fix crashes and to display ads. That data is never sold or resold to anyone.
1. Who is responsible for this app?
Memoria is developed and published by an independent developer, reachable at florian.duhen.pro@gmail.com (the same address shown on the Settings page of the app).
This policy covers the Memoria mobile app on Android and iOS.
2. What Memoria stores on your device
All of your personal usage data stays local. Specifically, the app saves on your phone:
- your recall tables and the associations they contain (the number or value, the name you chose, the link to the image);
- the images you associate: if you pick a photo from your gallery, it is copied into the app's private storage; if you pick an image found through the online search, only its web address is saved and the image is cached for display;
- your progress: goals achieved, best streak, best time, Series mode records;
- your preferences: notifications on or off, haptic feedback, selected table, training settings (value range, series length);
- whether or not you have bought the Premium version (a simple yes/no flag).
This information is kept in the app's local storage (SharedPreferences / NSUserDefaults) and in the app's private container. It is not sent to any server. There is no account, no sign-up and no cloud sync.
If you use the Export feature in Settings, the app writes a JSON file containing your tables to your downloads folder or to the app's documents folder. That file is yours: you alone decide whether to keep it, share it or delete it.
3. What Memoria sends to third-party services
3.1 Firebase Analytics (Google)
The app records anonymous usage events to understand which features are used: starting a training session, creating an association, opening settings, viewing the Premium page, and so on. These events contain neither the content of your tables, nor the names of your associations, nor your images.
Firebase Analytics links these events to an installation identifier generated by Google, along with technical information (device model, OS version, language, approximate country). The app records a single user property: whether or not you are a Premium user.

3.2 Firebase Crashlytics (Google)
When the app crashes, a crash report is sent automatically: the nature of the error, the stack trace, the device model and the OS version. These reports are used only to fix bugs. They do not contain the content of your tables.

3.3 Google AdMob (advertising)
The free version of Memoria displays ads:
- an interstitial ad after certain training sessions;
- a rewarded ad, which you deliberately choose to watch, to temporarily unlock Series mode.
To serve these ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK uses your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS) along with technical and approximate location information. Memoria also passes the SDK a fixed list of topical keywords (memory, brain training, mnemonics, and so on) so that the ads stay relevant to what the app is about. These keywords are the same for everyone and do not describe your behaviour.
Your consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent form provided by the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) is shown on first launch. Your choice is stored and honoured by the ads SDK. You can change that choice at any time from the app's Settings, under "Manage my ad consent".
On iOS. Once the app is open, iOS asks you, through App Tracking Transparency, whether you allow Memoria to track your activity for ad personalisation. If you decline, the advertising identifier is not available and the ads you see are not personalised. Declining has no effect on how the app works.

3.4 "Premium" in-app purchase
The Premium purchase is a one-off payment, handled entirely by your platform's store: Google Play Billing on Android, Apple StoreKit / the App Store on iOS.
Memoria never sees your payment details: not your card number, not your address, not your Google or Apple account identifier. The app only receives a confirmation from the store that the "premium" product has been bought or restored, and saves a yes/no flag locally.
The "Restore my purchases" entry on the Premium page asks the store to find a purchase already made with the same account. You trigger it yourself; it never runs automatically at launch.

3.5 Pexels (image search)
When you search for an image to illustrate an association, Memoria sends the search term you typed and the app's language to the Pexels stock image API, in order to get a list of results back. No identifier relating to you is transmitted: no device identifier, no advertising identifier, and none of your table content.
As with any network request, your device's IP address is visible to Pexels and to its hosting provider. The thumbnails you see are downloaded from Pexels' servers.

4. Notifications
Memoria uses local notifications only: they are scheduled by the app on your device to remind you to train or to let you know that a new goal is available. No remote push notification is sent from any server, and no notification token is transmitted.
You can turn notifications off at any time from the app's Settings or from your device's system settings.
5. Permissions requested
- Photo access: requested only at the moment you choose to illustrate an association with an image from your gallery. Memoria never browses your photo library in the background and copies only the image you selected.
- Notifications: requested in order to show the reminders described above.
- File access: used only for the Export and Import features, when you trigger them.
- Internet: required for image search, advertising, usage statistics and crash reports.
- Vibration: used for haptic feedback during training. You can turn it off in Settings.
6. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
- Running the app (storing your tables locally, image search, Premium purchase): performing the service you asked for.
- Advertising and advertising identifiers: your consent, collected through the Google UMP form and, on iOS, through App Tracking Transparency. That consent can be withdrawn at any time.
- Usage statistics and crash reports: our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app, subject to the choice you expressed in the consent form where that form applies to your region.
7. Retention
- The data you create in the app stays on your device until you delete it: you can erase it by clearing your table from Settings, by deleting a table, or by uninstalling the app.
- Data entrusted to Google (statistics, crash reports, advertising data) is retained for the periods Google defines in its own policies.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your data, as well as the right to data portability.
In practice, since Memoria holds no data about you on its own servers, you exercise these rights directly from the app:
- Access and portability: the Export feature in Settings hands you all of your tables as a readable JSON file.
- Rectification: edit or delete an association from the table page.
- Erasure: use Delete all the associations in Settings, delete a table, or uninstall the app — that removes all local storage and copied images.
- Objecting to personalised advertising: the "Manage my ad consent" entry in Settings and, on iOS, System Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Resetting your advertising identifier: from your device's system settings (Android: Google › Ads; iOS: turn tracking off).
For data held by Google or Pexels, you can also exercise your rights directly with those companies through the links above. For any question, write to us at florian.duhen.pro@gmail.com; we reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
9. Children
Memoria is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from minors. The app never asks for a name, an email address, an age or any other identifying information. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, contact us and we will take the necessary steps.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may change as the app changes. The last-updated date shown at the top of this page is authoritative. Any significant change will be mentioned in the app's release notes.
11. Contact
